The Brief: To assist Network Rail customers through Face-to-face Engagement regarding alternative travel arrangements during the £1.2bn East Coast Main Line upgrade program. Provide additional on-platform and on-train communications resources, so that Network Rail and the Train Operating Company's staff could focus on their activities.

The Execution: We delivered Brand Ambassadors and Promotional Staff across several stations on various routes between London and Newcastle for Face-to-face engagement with the public and to help them plan travel arrangements during ongoing maintenance programs. We can supply short-term enthusiastic promotional staffing anywhere in the UK to help you communicate with the public in a positive, upbeat and informative way, even when then the messaging is challenging.

Effective Face-to-face Engagement

A Face-to-Face Engagement Campaign was provided for Network Rail via a focused strategy of passenger intervention and Face-to-face engagement to enhance the smooth running of the network during critical and disruptive engineering works on the East Coast main line.

Passenger Intervention teams - To support station staff during major disruptive work, in particular directing passengers from migrating on to East Midlands Railway to reduce overcrowding.

Surprise and Delight teams - Communicating upcoming closure dates to passengers and distributing goody-bags by way of an apology for any travel disruption. Alongside brand ambassadors, Network Rail also requested a costume wearer (Eric the Lion) for S&D shifts to help communicate key messaging.

Zest provided staff over a period of several months who were resilient and confident in order to properly intercept passengers (especially during early morning shifts when passengers were less likely to engage with staff).
